Merge Fruits Guide, Rules, and Tips

Merge Fruits is a relaxed physics puzzle in the style of the Suika (watermelon) game. Drop fruit into a jar one at a time. When two identical fruits touch, they merge into the next, bigger fruit, from cherry all the way up to watermelon. The jar fills up quickly, so plan where each fruit lands and keep the pile below the red line.

How to Play

  • Aim the fruit at the top of the jar and drop it. The next fruit is shown in the corner.
  • Two identical fruits that touch merge into the next size up and score points; bigger merges score more.
  • Only the five smallest fruits are dropped; everything bigger has to be merged.
  • If fruit rests above the red line for two seconds, the game is over. Two of the largest fruit merging vanish for a 100-point bonus.

Strategy and Tips

  • Keep your largest fruit in one corner and build a descending row beside it, like 2048.
  • Drop small fruit on top of the same kind, not next to bigger ones where they get trapped.
  • Check the next fruit before you drop so you can set up a merge for it.
  • Merges can chain: a new fruit dropping onto its twin can set off several merges in a row.

Controls

KeyboardMouseTouch

Move the mouse or your finger to aim and click or tap to drop. With a keyboard, aim with the left and right arrows (or A and D) and drop with Space, Enter, or the down arrow. There's a short cooldown between drops.

Background

The Suika Game, a Japanese fruit-merging puzzle from Aladdin X, became a worldwide hit on Nintendo Switch in 2023. Its mix of simple merging and messy physics means no two rounds play out the same.
